A scene from the 2009 Hollywood disaster film ‘2012’ has resurfaced on social media following the devastating flash floods that swept through parts of Nepal on Wednesday. Visuals of the disaster that claimed several lives, has social media users drawing comparisons between the real-life devastation and the fictional disaster depicted in the film.A clip from 2012, starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet and Chiwetel Ejiofor, has been widely shared on social media as images and videos of flood water surging through Nepal’s mountainous terrain emerged following the disaster. “That’s crazy, they already predicted it in the movie 2012,” one netizen commented while sharing the film clip.

The comparison has also drawn attention to one of the film’s promotional posters that featured a Buddhist monk standing on a mountaintop as mega-tsunami waves crashed into the mountains. The poster also featured the tagline, “We were warned.”Reacting to the videos now doing the rounds on social media, netizens commented, “The scenes fromm Nepal are exactly like the 2012 movie.”Another said, “Eerie CCTV footage of the flash flood at the Tibet-Nepal border! Nepal flash floods leave widespread devastation
According to AP, an avalanche or glacial ice-and-rock collapse triggered a sudden surge of water in the Bhote Koshi River on Wednesday, sweeping away villages, roads and infrastructure. Authorities have reported at least 157 deaths in Nepal. More than 400 people, including foreign tourists have been reported missing.
