India Post has started the registration process for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official India Post website at indiapost.gov.in.The online application and fee payment window will remain open from September 2 to September 21, 2026. Candidates will also be able to make corrections to their applications from September 23 to September 24, 2026.This recruitment drive will fill 23,757 GDS vacancies across India Post.
India Post GDS recruitment 2026 : Who can apply?
Candidates who have passed the Secondary School Examination (SSE) of Class 10 from a recognised board are eligible to apply.They must have passed Mathematics and English as subjects in Class 10. Candidates should also have studied the local language of the relevant post or circle at least up to Class 10 from a recognised board.The age of applicants should be between 18 and 40 years.
India Post GDS recruitment 2026: Application fee
Candidates applying for the GDS posts are required to pay an application fee of Rs 100.However, female candidates, transgender women, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are exempted from paying the fee.The fee can be paid only through online mode using credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI through the recognised payment gateways available on the portal.After candidates submit their application details, the portal will show the applicable fee for payment.

How will GDS candidates be selected?
Candidates will be shortlisted for engagement through a system-generated merit list.The merit list will be prepared using the marks obtained in the Class 10 Secondary School Examination. Where grades or points are awarded instead of marks, they will be converted into marks as per the prescribed process.The marks will then be calculated as a percentage, with the merit list prepared to an accuracy of four decimal places.Candidates should make sure that they submit their applications within the deadline and check the official India Post website for more details.
